The harvest

Everybody knows the story. Jesus says to his disciples that the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few so pray for the workers, but I was surprised to see this as a precursor:

“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”
- Matthew 9:36

When we go out witnessing, what eyes do we see the people in? Because clearly, God’s eyes sees every pot smoking, gangster thug, psychology major, grad student, indifferent, adamant atheist, professor, head covering, everything-that-intimidates-us person as simply as “sheep without a shepherd.” One who has lost their way.

And then Jesus saw that there were so many people that just needed to find their way back, but not enough workers and that is when he said,

“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” - Matthew 9:38

He saw the need and his reaction was to pray for fulfillment. Then do.
